MarathonGo helps runners find, compare and plan marathons. We built it so that your information stays on your iPhone.
The short version
- No account, no sign-in, no advertising, no analytics or tracking.
- Everything you enter stays on your iPhone. That includes saved races, your times, your marathons, photos, reminders, trip costs and your home airport.
- We never collect, sell or share your personal information. We couldn't, because we don't receive it.
Information that stays on your iPhone
- Your races and settings: saved races, filters, target races, reminders, trip-cost details, your home airport, your race times and notes. These are stored in the app on your device. They are included in your normal iPhone/iCloud backup, like any app's data.
- Photos: photos you add to your marathons are stored privately inside the app. They are never uploaded. If you take a photo with the camera, the app asks for camera permission first.
- Apple Health (optional): if you choose "Connect Apple Health", the app reads your running workouts (date, distance, duration and the app that recorded them). It uses them only to show your running summary in the app. Health data is never written, uploaded, shared or used for advertising, and never leaves your iPhone. You can switch this off at any time in Settings → Health → Data Access & Devices → MarathonGo.
- Notifications: race and entry reminders are scheduled on your iPhone by iOS. Nothing is sent to us.
- Home-screen widget: the widget reads your race countdown from the app's shared storage on the same iPhone.
When the app connects to the internet
- Race information: the app downloads the latest race list (dates, entry status and so on) from our public file on GitHub Pages (github.io). The request contains no personal information. Like any website, GitHub can see your device's IP address. See GitHub's privacy statement.
- Race-morning weather forecast: when a race is less than about two weeks away, the app asks Open-Meteo (open-meteo.com) for the forecast at that race's start location. Only the race's coordinates are sent, never your location or any personal information. Open-Meteo can see your IP address. See Open-Meteo's terms and privacy policy.
- Links you tap: official race websites, maps and booking sites open in Safari or Apple Maps and are covered by their own privacy policies.
Sharing
When you choose to share something, the app uses the standard iOS share sheet and you choose where it goes. This could be a finisher card, a race or a supporter guide. Nothing is shared without your action.
Children
MarathonGo is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from anyone.
Deleting your data
Delete items in the app, or delete the app to remove everything it stored on your iPhone. We hold no copy.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update this page and the date above.
